Using Fermi gas formalism, we derive the partition function of N=4 Chern-Simons theories, suggesting universality in supersymmetric gauge theories.
In this work, we revisit the exact computation of the round sphere partition function of 3d <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><a:mi mathvariant="script">N</a:mi><a:mo>=</a:mo><a:mn>4</a:mn></a:math> circular quiver Chern-Simons theories with mass and Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) deformations. Utilizing the Fermi gas formalism, we derive the large <d:math xmlns:d="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><d:mi>N</d:mi></d:math> expansion of the partition function and determine the Airy function structure, parametrized by three functions <f:math xmlns:f="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><f:mi>C</f:mi></f:math>, <h:math xmlns:h="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><h:mi>B</h:mi></h:math>, and <j:math xmlns:j="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><j:mi>A</j:mi></j:math>. We propose a novel closed-form expression for <l:math xmlns:l="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><l:mi>A</l:mi></l:math> that incorporates the effects of FI parameters and satisfies various consistency constraints from quiver reductions. As an application, by using an accidental coincidence of the Fermi gas density matrices we extend our results to the squashed sphere partition function of <n:math xmlns:n="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><n:mi mathvariant="script">N</n:mi><n:mo>=</n:mo><n:mn>4</n:mn></n:math> super Yang-Mills theories with an adjoint hypermultiplet and multiple fundamental hypermultiplets. Our findings provide further evidence for the universality of the Airy function structure in supersymmetric gauge theories of multiple M2-branes.
