Case report shows radiotracer uptake indicating mandibular condylar hyperplasia in a 16-year-old girl, suggesting effective imaging use for diagnosis.
Mandibular condylar hyperplasia is a benign growth disorder characterized by excessive, unilateral, or bilateral enlargement of the mandibular condyle that results in progressive facial asymmetry, malocclusion, and functional impairment. We report a case of a 16-year-old girl who presented with right temporomandibular joint clicking and popping sounds, with clinical examination revealing facial asymmetry. 99m TcMDP SPECT/CT imaging revealed asymmetric increased radiotracer uptake and enlargement of the right mandibular condyle, consistent with mandibular condylar hyperplasia.
