Qualitative analysis reveals the impact of migration on single mothers' employment and welfare policies, highlighting critical resource gaps.
Using Lithuania as a case study, this research examines how migration intensifies the challenges faced by single mothers, expanding the triple-bind theory to address intersecting resource, employment, and policy gaps in the migration context. It draws on qualitative data from 30 semi-structured interviews with Lithuanian single mothers who migrated to Germany, Norway, and the UK, alongside a comparative review of welfare policies in these countries. The interviews illuminate migrant single mothers′ lived experiences, while the policy review highlights the strenghts and gaps in support systems.
