Analysis shows strong positive correlation of fruit weight and girth with yield, suggesting key traits for improvement.
An experiment was carried out at Horticultural College and ResearchInstitute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to study thecorrelation analysis in snap melon. The study revealed that the traitsfruit girth, fruit weight, number of primary branches, flesh thickness, number of female flowers per plant, fruit length, fruit girth, fruit weight, days to first harvest, number of fruits per plant, vine length, TSS, protein, carbohydrate, calcium, iron showed high positive significant correlationwith fruit yield per plant. The traits such as days to first male flowerappearance, node at which first female flower appearance and daysto first harvest registered negative significant association with yield.
