Case report highlights dermatomyositis-like symptoms in anti-HMGCR immune-mediated myopathy, suggesting awareness of extramuscular manifestations is crucial.
Extramuscular manifestations of anti‐3‐hydroxy‐3‐methylglutaryl‐coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) immune‐mediated necrotising myopathy (IMNM) are rare and often overlooked because they are overshadowed by predominant muscular symptoms. The types of cutaneous manifestations can be numerous. In rare cases, they may also present as a dermatomyositis like rash. We present a case of anti‐HMGCR IMNM, characterised by a DM‐like presentation with a literature review concerning this specific manifestation.
