This converter reduces power loss in inductors and flying capacitors, extending the voltage conversion ratio.
A hybrid fixed‐inductor‐current step‐down converter is presented for reducing the power loss in the inductor and achieving wide voltage conversion range (VCR). Compared to other hybrid converters, the proposed work enhances efficiency of hybrid converter with single flying capacitor by balancing power loss in the inductor and flying capacitor according to different DCR of inductor. Additionally, the VCR is extended through dual‐ramp control in the proposed topology. Experimental results show that the efficiency of proposed topology reaches up to 85.8%, with 60 mΩ DCR and 4 A load, which is 5.4% improvement compared to conventional buck converter (CBC).
