Empirical research highlights green credit policy's role in enhancing ESG performance in firms, indicating significant benefits.
As global climate change and environmental challenges escalate in severity, green finance has become a crucial tool for promoting sustainable development. This research aims to investigate the impact mechanism and actual effects of green credit policy on corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. Based on a method that combines theoretical analysis with empirical research, this paper constructs a multi-dimensional analysis framework for the impact of green credit policies on the ESG performance of enterprises. By selecting panel data of relevant enterprises and using econometric models, a comparative analysis of the ESG performance of enterprises before and after the implementation of green credit policies is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the policies and their heterogeneous impacts. Research shows green credit policy improves corporate environmental performance, strengthens social responsibilities, optimizes governance, and alleviates financing constraints, especially in high-pollution industries and small and medium-sized enterprises.
