Field trials demonstrate significant reductions in dead hearts and white ear in paddy, indicating effectiveness of chlorantraniliprole.
Among the recommended doses of insecticides, chlorantraniliprole 600 g/1SC applied at 40 g a.i/ha and 30 g a.i/ha were found to be effective in reducing the percentage of dead hearts, recording levels of 1.13% and 1.29%, respectively, at 19 days after the second spray. This corresponds to a reduction of 85.27% and 83.18% over the untreated control. The percentage of white ear recorded was significantly lower with chlorantraniliprole 600 g/1SC at 40 g a.i/ha, which measured at 1.14%, showing an 83.41% reduction compared to the untreated control. This effectiveness was comparable to that of chlorantraniliprole 600 g/1SC at 30 g a.i/ha, which had a rate of 1.23% with an 82.10% reduction, and chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC at 30 g a.i/ha, which recorded 1.37% and an 80.06% reduction. In contrast, the untreated control exhibited a higher percentage of white ear heads, recorded at 6.87%. Regarding grain yield, all dosages of insecticides resulted in significantly higher yields compared to the untreated control, which yielded 40.53 q/ha. The highest grain yield was observed with chlorantraniliprole 600 g/1SC at 40 g a.i/ha, achieving 71.04 q/ha. This yield was statistically similar to that of chlorantraniliprole 600 g/1SC at 30 g a.i/ha, which produced 69.08 q/ha, and chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC at 30 g a.i/ha, yielding 68.09 q/ha.
