This research uncovers career constraints and enablers for female top managers, highlighting significant barriers and supportive policies.
The study explored the underrepresentation of women, especially in the top management roles and their related issues and growth enablers, which restrict and promote their career development. Female top managers experience different kinds of career constraints which impact their career progression. However, there are certain growth enablers which boost the career development process, which help to achieve leadership management roles. This research aims to discover the detailed career limitations faced by female top managers, examine their career development procedures, and measure growth enabler factors, boosting career growth. To investigate the career barriers and advancement enablers, 100 participants through the survey method were targeted to achieve the real-time results. Glass Ceiling Theory has been used to highlight the findings from female executives, which exposed that male-dominated cultures, gender stereotyping, and tokenism meaningfully upsurge career barriers, whereas caregiving duties displayed no such influence. However, gender fairness policies, sponsorship programmes, networking and work-life balance policies play a key role in career advancement, supporting leadership development. The primary quantitative data collection method results highlight that organisational and cultural partialities remain deep-rooted, despite organisational policies, emphasising the requirement for cohesive structural transformations, inclusive sponsorship programs, and cultural change to achieve sincere gender equality in leadership roles.
