Analysis shows that a lack of autonomy increases PTSD symptoms and decreases quality of life in trauma survivors, indicating essential recovery needs.
This study aimed to investigate whether self-objectification in trauma survivors affects quality of life (QOL) through PTSD symptoms. The sample consisted of 419 adult women (mean age = 39.71 ± 10.92 years), categorized into sexual violence survivors (n = 66) and other trauma survivors (n = 353). Multiple-group analysis showed that a lack of autonomy significantly increased PTSD symptoms and decreased QOL in both sexual violence survivors and other trauma-exposed individuals. These findings highlight the need to address the lack of autonomy for comprehensive trauma recovery.
