This discussion reveals insights into embryogenesis in pluripotent stem cells, suggesting a need for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Mijo Šimunović is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University, USA. With two PhDs - one in Chemistry and the other in Physics - and postdoctoral experience in Stem Cell and Developmental Biology, Mijo's research group now generates quantitative models of embryogenesis using human pluripotent stem cells to study the molecular mechanisms and the biomechanics of embryo implantation, gastrulation and organ formation. We spoke to Mijo over Teams to learn more about Mijo's transition to becoming a group leader and Mijo's insights on the growing need for cross-disciplinary research.
