This overview details botanical contributions and new taxa from Fritz Müller, highlighting specimens and eponyms.
This work provides a comprehensive overview of the botanical contributions of the German naturalist Fritz Müller in Brazil. We detail dates and locations of his 783 specimens made in the state of Santa Catarina, representing 120 families and 596 taxa (including some unidentified), as well as the herbaria where the specimens are currently deposited. A chronological list of 104 botanical works authored by the naturalist is also presented. Furthermore, we examine the 19 new taxa proposed by Müller, including their etymology, translated descriptions, and taxonomic comments. We also compile 16 eponyms—one genus and 15 species—dedicated to Fritz Müller, and listed 22 new taxa established from his collections. In addition, we propose nine lectotypes and one neotype.
