This analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of PVDF/PPy–Ag2O nanocomposites for EMI shielding, indicating high dielectric performance in electronics.
This study explores the structural and functional properties of nanocomposites made from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) combined with polypyrrole–silver oxide (PPy–Ag 2 O) hybrid nanofillers in different weight ratios. Focus is placed on their dielectric behavior and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMISE), especially at very low silver oxide content. Raman spectroscopy and morphological analyses confirmed strong interaction and uniform dispersion of PPy–Ag 2 O within the PVDF matrix. Thermal stability improved significantly, with the decomposition temperature increasing from 436 °C for pure PVDF to 445 °C for the 95:5 (5%) nanocomposite. This same composite displayed stable dielectric properties, supported by measurements of dielectric permittivity and AC conductivity. EMI shielding tests in the X‐band frequency range showed the 95:5 nanocomposite achieved a high absorption‐based shielding effectiveness (SE) (around 26 dB) and moderate reflection (below 5 dB), mainly due to enhanced internal reflections within the conductive fillers. All samples provided over 20 dB shielding across a 4 GHz bandwidth, while the 95:5 composite achieved over 25 dB across 0.8 GHz (8.0–8.8 GHz). The total shielding efficiency reached approximately 31 dB, attenuating about 99.9% of electromagnetic radiation. These results indicate PVDF/PPy–Ag 2 O nanocomposites are promising lightweight materials for effective EMI shielding in electronics, aerospace, and defense sectors.
