This study demonstrates supercontinuum generation from visible to mid-infrared in GeO2-core fiber, suggesting new applications for imaging and sensing.
In this paper, we report the efficient generation of a broad-band high-power supercontinuum spanning from visible to the mid-infrared in a GeO₂-core step-index fiber enabled by high-order-mode enhanced dispersive wave radiation. The multimode GeO₂-core step-index fiber is pumped by a home-made highly-stable picosecond fiber laser centered at 1.97 μm. The generated supercontinuum covers from 440 nm to 3.35 μm with multiple peaks of dispersive wave. The experimental results are well described by numerical calculations qualitatively, demonstrating the promising applications of the generated supercontinuum source for compact sensing and imaging.
