On November 13, 2024, the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation held the scientific and practical conference «Modern Competition Law: Challenges, Problems, Solutions» in honour of the centenary of Professor N. I. Klein, Honoured Lawyer of Russia. The Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation was at the origin of the concept of competition law, and Nina I. Klein was a recognised leader contributing to the development of this field. Changes in the socio-economic environment require a discussion of the existing standards of freedom of competition and forms of its legal protection. Within the framework of the conference the main topics of discussion were such issues as the development of competition as a general legal value and a backbone element of the market economy, sectoral peculiarities of legal protection of competition, private and public law mechanisms of its protection, the influence of historical experience on the formation of modern antimonopoly regulation, current problems and trends in improving competition law.
