This article presents evidence supporting the use of ICDs and wearable devices in heart failure patients, indicating their role in reducing sudden cardiac death.
<ns3:p>Sudden cardiac death (SCD) remains one of the leading causes of death in patients with heart failure. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) play a key role in the prevention of SCD, both in primary and secondary prevention. This article aims to present current clinical evidence and recommendations for the use of traditional transvenous ICDs (TV-ICD), subcutaneous ICDs (S-ICDs), new generation endovascular devices (EV-ICDs) and wearable cardioverter-defibrillators (WCDs).</ns3:p>
