Analysis reveals positive player feedback and highlights immersive music in the audio game BREU, suggesting effective game design principles.
This article aims to present the creative processes involved in the musical composition of the audio game BREU: Shadow Hunt, in light of concepts related to game design and embodied cognition. This article sought to convey how a multi-referential perspective can contribute to the articulation of musical creative processes in an electronic game without a visual interface and contribute to the creation of an immersive experience to the player. After the game’s publication on platforms such as Itch.io and Steam, positive feedback was collected from blind and sighted players, and it won awards such as Best Music and Best Performance at the NYX Game Awards festival, reinforcing the positive impact of music in the game. It is expected that this work might stimulate new discussions about and musically creative approaches to the creation of a more immersive player experience.
