Analysis finds that DCE-MRI parameters can predict pathological grading in invasive breast cancer patients with dense breasts, aiding treatment decisions.
Motivation: Dense breast tissue is common, the relationship between histopathological grading and preoperative DCE-MRI perfusion parameters remains unclear in breast cancer patients with dense breasts. Goal(s): We evaluated whether perfusion parameters measured by DCE-MRI could predict differences in histopathological grades among patients with invasive breast cancer featuring dense breasts. Approach: Ktrans, Kep, Ve, IAUGC, and ADC were measured and comparatively analyzed among volunteers with histologically confirmed different tissue grades. Results: Significant differences in perfusion parameters were observed across different pathological grades. Risk prediction models using Ktrans and Kep had AUCs of 0.835 and 0.839, respectively (P = 0.041). Impact: Preoperative prediction of breast cancer pathological grading in dense breasts aids in optimizing patient treatment decisions. Our results indicate that these parameters can be used preoperatively to predict the pathological grading of breast cancer in dense breasts.
