Observational analysis shows poor prognosis in pediatric heart failure cases linked to genetics and cardiac imaging.
Motivation: To study the effects of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and genetics on the prognosis of pediatric heart failure (HF) with non-ischemia. Goal(s): To show the relationship between late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) of CMR and phenotype of genes and to explore the prognostic implications of HF. Approach: The patients were divided into No-LGE group, Subendocardial group and No-Subendocardial group. The Phi coefficient, univariable and multivariable cox proportional hazard models and Kaplan-Meier method were assessed. Results: MYH7 was the gene with largest proportion in this study. Non-ischemic HF can with uncommon sub-endocardial LGE and some parameters on CMR showed poor prognosis. Impact: The study demonstrated the common genetic abnormalities in paediatric heart failure with non-ischemia and also reveal some relationship between genetics and late gadolinium enhancement. Cardiac magnetic resonance could provide valuable predictive information for pediatric heart failure with non-ischemia.
