Observational analysis shows T1/T2 mapping correlates with cognitive impairment in Parkinson's patients, suggesting a potential biomarker.
Motivation: Cognitive impairment (PD-CI) is common in Parkinson's disease (PD), but reliable diagnostic biomarkers are lacking. Goal(s): To explore the correlation between gray matter and PD-CI using T1/T2 mapping with MAGiC and identify potential biomarkers. Approach: We applied the MAGiC technique to investigate T1/T2 mapping in PD patients and correlate it with cognitive performance. Results: Significant diagnostic value was found, with T1/T2 mapping in the left putamen serving as a potential biomarker for PD-CI. Impact: This study provides an objective imaging biomarker for cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease, enhancing early detection and aiding in the development of personalized therapeutic strategies to manage PD-associated cognitive decline more effectively.
