Analysis reveals four distinct subregions in the precentral gyrus, suggesting that cerebral palsy impacts subregion effectiveness for TMS.
Motivation: There are large individual differences in transcranial magnetic stimulation in children with cerebral palsy, and the stimulation position is not precise. Goal(s): We wished to refine the distribution of the precentral gyrus in children with CP to identify effective target locations for TMS. Approach: We determined the optimal number of subregions in the precentral gyrus using NMF and compared each subregion to explore the effect of cerebral palsy on each subregion. Results: The best performance was achieved when precentral gyrus indicators were divided into 4 subregions, with cerebral palsy having the most significant impact on subregion 1. Impact: We further refined the segmentation results of the precentral gyrus brain area, clarified the impact of cerebral palsy on each subregion, provided new ideas for TMS target optimization, and helped to improve the efficacy of motor rehabilitation in CP children.
