This analysis demonstrates TMS influences neurotransmitter levels in the DLPFC of adolescents, suggesting potential for treatment.
Motivation: The impact of TMS on neurotransmitter levels in the DLPFC of depression patients remains uncertain. Goal(s): The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of TMS on neurotransmitter changes and lateralization in the DLPFC of adolescent patients with first-episode depression Approach: MRS Data were acquired from the left and right DLPFC using the MEGA-PRESS sequence Results: We found that compared with HCs, the concentrations of GABA and Glx on the left and right sides of the First-episode adolescent depression are different. The concentration of left side changed after rTMS. There was no significant change on the right side. Impact: 3-T 1H-MRS can be used to measure the changes of GABA and Glx concentrations in patients with depression before and after rTMS treatment, which provides a theoretical basis for exploring the occurrence and treatment mechanism of depression.
