This study demonstrates a wireless braces-shaped coil enhancing imaging quality in dental applications, highlighting MRI's benefits over CBCT.
Motivation: MRI offers a potential alternative to CBCT, reducing radiation exposure and enhancing soft tissue contrast. Goal(s): Develop a braces-shaped wireless coil for high-resolution, radiation-free imaging of upper and lower teeth. Approach: We designed a braces-shaped wireless coil for intraoral use, enhancing SNR while ensuring comfort and safety. Results: In ex vivo tests, our braces-shaped coil outperformed CBCT, achieving results previously unattained with MRI. In human imaging, the coil provided dental clarity comparable to CBCT. Impact: This intraoral braces-shaped wireless coil offers a radiation-free alternative to CBCT with high-resolution dental imaging and improved soft tissue contrast.
