Motivation: The feasibility of 4D-Flow MRI to assess differences in cerebral hemodynamics between healthy controls and ischemic stroke patients is unclear. Goal(s): Our research aimed to assess the feasibility of 4D-Flow MRI in evaluating hemodynamic differences between healthy controls and ischemic stroke patients. Approach: Multiple cerebral hemodynamic parameters were acquired using 4D-Flow MRI in healthy controls and ischemic stroke patients. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in multiple hemodynamic parameters in healthy volunteers of different genders and ages, and in different locations of stenotic vessels. The patients had lower TCBF, ACBF, PCBF, and higher ICA-peak velocity and maximal flow asymmetry indices compared with HCs. Impact: 4D-Flow MRI has great potential in the assessment of cerebral hemodynamics in healthy individuals and ischemic stroke patients and may provide new markers for clinical work.
