Investigation reveals how thickness and materials affect acoustic power in plates, suggesting optimization strategies.
In this paper, the sound power characteristics of thin plates are investigated based on the acoustic radiation coupled modal and finite element methods. The structural vibration response is calculated by the finite element model, the theoretical equations from the structural dynamics equations to the acoustic power calculation are derived, and the finite element model of a rectangular flat plate is constructed. The effects of materials and thicknesses such as steel, aluminum and copper on the acoustic radiated power were analyzed. The results show that the acoustic power peaks at the intrinsic frequency of the structure under the influence of the excitation frequency, and the low-frequency band increases and then fluctuates with the increase of frequency; when the thickness of the flat plate is increased, the overall acoustic power decreases, and the frequency corresponding to the peak of the acoustic power shifts to the high frequency. This study provides a theoretical basis for noise control and acoustic optimization of thin plate structures, which helps to optimize the structural design for noise control.
