A new multiphase hybrid stress finite element method improves analysis of particle reinforced composites, indicating effectiveness for complex geometries.
Particle-reinforced composites (PRCs) are widely used in high-tech fields due to their excellent mechanical properties. In this paper, a new multi-phase hybridized stress finite element method (MHSFEM) is proposed for PRCs. Based on the principle of minimum residual energy and modified variational principle, the modified residual energy generalized function of 3D MHSFEM with the existence of L material phases is constructed, and the cell format of this unit is derived. Aiming at the complexity of the spatial integration domain due to the arbitrary shape and distribution of the inclusions, the Delaunay tetrahedral discretization method is introduced in the 3D MHSFEM. The complex integration domain is transformed into multiple simple tetrahedral cells. Finally, a comparative model using FEM is calculated for an arithmetic case containing one-eighth ellipsoidal inclusions, which verifies the effectiveness and efficiency of the method proposed in this paper.
