Hybrid finite element method improves local stress distribution analysis in heterogeneous materials, suggesting practical applications.
A new hybrid finite element method was developed in our earlier studies [1,2,3,4] for the micromechanical analysis of heterogeneous materials. One super-element with an inclusion replaces many traditional displacement-based elements without sacrificing accuracy. Detailed local stress distribution can be easily obtained in a material reinforced by randomly dispersed inclusions. In this paper, the method is summarized and presented with numerical applications.
