Retrospective analysis shows bullying impacts self-esteem in students, highlighting the role of teacher interventions.
The research provided an insight into how often participants experienced bullying during their primary school years. The survey involved 170 participants of different ages and from various parts of Transylvania, and their responses were based on retrospective self-reporting. We explored the impact of the intervention methods used by the participants' teachers on the development of bullying. Furthermore, we examined the long-term effects of peer bullying on the psychological well-being and self-esteem of the victims. The results show that victims’ self esteem is lower than that of other participants. Some respondents also reported experiences of self harming behaviour and suicidal thoughts.
