Observational analysis finds gender diversity may enhance corporate sustainability in firms, suggesting broader impacts on performance.
This study examines the relationship between gender diversity and corporate sustainability, analyzes the link between gender social responsibility and the Social Responsibility Index (SRI), and discusses the relationship between corporate environment, social responsibility scores, and return on investment (ROA). The study finds that gender-diverse boards may be more concerned with social issues, but the direct effect of gender diversity on ROA is uncertain. The findings also emphasize the impact of control variables such as firm size, financial constraints, and board characteristics on ESG and financial performance. This study suggests that organizations should consider gender diversity as a necessity to enhance corporate sustainability and future performance and implement diverse leadership to develop an inclusive corporate environment. Further research should explore other contributing factors of gender diversity on corporate strategy and business performance.
