Experimental evidence shows that slow-light enhances sensitivity in biosensing with microfluidic applications.
This paper experimentally demonstrates a packaged slow-light-enhanced asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) sensors for biosensing applications. Slow light effects enhance the overlap of the optical mode with the analyte, improving system sensitivity. We employ microfluidic channels to optimize the interaction between the analyte and optical signal, allowing low concentrations of the biomarker to be measured.
