This research analyzes gear shaping to enhance meshing performance and reduce contact stress in gear reducers.
Under real-world working conditions, the performance of gears is affected by manufacturing errors, installation errors, load deformation, and other factors. Shock, vibration, and noise are inevitable in the operation of meshing gears. Gear tooth profile can be appropriately modified to improve the smoothness of the transmission and improve the mesh state. Taking the gear pair of the gear reducer as the research object, KISSsoft software was used to carry out the study of gear shaping. By choosing the appropriate shaping method, the gear pair was shaped in tooth profile and tooth direction, and the meshing performance and contact studies were carried out on the gears before and after shaping. The results of the study show that the contact temperature between the gears in the gear pair decreases, the transmission error and heat generation decrease, the contact stress decreases, and the safety coefficient increases after gear reshaping. It effectively improves the gear tooth bearing capacity, reduces the generation of problems such as excessive load and sudden change of load, improves the meshing quality, and provides theoretical support for the gear processing after subsequent reshaping.
