Developed a 64-pixel terahertz focal plane array using plasmonic nanoantennas, enhancing imaging speed and practicality.
We have developed a 64-pixel terahertz focal plane array (THz-FPA) utilizing plasmonic nanoantennas, which enhance infrared light concentration while functioning as terahertz antennas. This advanced detector array enables rapid line scanning of a 5 cm linewidth, significantly improving imaging speed and coverage. By combining high throughput with a broad field of view, the THz-FPA enhances the practicality of terahertz pulsed imaging, transitioning it from a metrology tool in a laboratory to a scalable non-destructive evaluation solution for various industries. Its capabilities make it well-suited for applications requiring fast, high-resolution inspection of continuous or moving materials.
