Observational analysis improved dental alignment and function in a 28-year-old, suggesting clear aligners are effective for complex cases.
Background. Report discussing the orthodontically treated case of a 28-year-old patient with dental and skeletal class III malocclusion, anterior and posterior crossbite, reverse overjet about –1.2 and midline shifting, which caused functional and aesthetic problems, traumatic occlusion, and incisors wear. Material and methods. Treatment with clear aligners (Invisalign) was proposed to meet the patient’s needs, using the sequential distalization protocol. Results. With precise and calculated forward movements of maxillary segments. Actually, mandibular teeth movements are more complex because of mandibular bone density due to presence of high cortical bone than in the maxilla with the presence of the third molars will be more challenging, which are often extracted to facilitate distalization. In addition, the use of intermaxillary elastics helps control the proclination of the anterior teeth as a reaction to distalizing forces. Conclusion. At the end of the treatment, we got molar and canine class I and positive overbite and overjet. The inclination of lower incisors and the interincisal angle have improved, resulting in aesthetic and functional improvement. All stages of treatment were done using clear aligner.
