Interview series showcases early-career researchers in experimental biology, highlighting diverse physiological systems and ecological insights.
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Amber Reinsborough is an author on ‘ Exposure to de-icers NaCl and beet juice brine alters the function of Malpighian tubules and anal papillae of chironomids (Chironomus riparius)’, published in JEB. Amber is a Master's student in the lab of Dr Andrew Donini at York University, Toronto, Canada, investigating how aquatic larvae can physiologically withstand changes in their environment through ion regulation to understand tolerances and resiliency.
