Zoological surveillance reports changes in small mammal populations in Khabarovsk krai, suggesting natural focal infection risks.
The obtained data on zoological surveillance over small mammal population of three stationary observation posts located in the Khabarovsk krai and epidemiologically significant objects of the of the Khabarovsk city are presented. Meteorological conditions of the year 2024 were mostly favorable for small mammals in the surveyed territory. At the same time, changes of dominant and codominant species were noted in different observation posts. Positive reproductive rates of non-dominant animal species recorded in 2024 give reason to assume that the number of small mammals in all surveyed posts of the Khabarovsk krai will increase by 5Ц15 %. No changes is small mammals population is expected in the Lazo district of the Khabarovsk krai or it might increase by 5Ц15 %.
