This research demonstrates a novel photonic-crystal laser achieving 500 W output power and full area lasing in a 10 mm resonator, indicating significant performance enhancement.
We develop a photonic-crystal surface-emitting laser (PCSEL) with a resonator diameter of 10 mm. Lasing oscillation across its entire area is realized and a pulsed output power of 500 W is achieved, representing a ~10-fold increase of output power over the previous 3-mm-diameter PCSEL at the same current density.
