Optomechanics reveals a mechanical resonance at 2 GHz in diamond microdisks, suggesting significant improvements in quality factor measurement.
We demonstrate optomechanics in diamond microdisks at millikelvin temperatures and measure a 2 GHz mechanical resonance with Q > 10 5 , an order of magnitude above the largest room temperature value of previously measured microdisks.
