Thermomechanical engineering of oxygen vacancies modulates phonon polariton dispersion by 11.7% in α-MoO3, indicating potential for customizing dielectric properties.
We report on the phonon-polaritonic dispersion configurability in α-MoO 3 by thermomechanically engineered oxygen-vacancy defects. Near-field nanoimaging of hot-pressed α-MoO 3 shows phonon-polariton dispersion modulation up to 11.7%, with 5% vacancies allowing up to 15% dielectric permittivity modulation. .
