This investigation explores ultrasound's role in assessing surface crack repairs in concrete structures, suggesting effective monitoring techniques.
Concrete structures are prone to cracking due to material and external factors, requiring effective monitoring and quality control. In order to maintain the integrity of the surface, the injection of synthetic resins is usually applied. The effectiveness of a repair procedure can be performed nondestructively using ultrasound. This study investigates the applicability of the diffuse ultrasound technique in evaluating surface crack repairs in concrete structures. Concrete prisms with induced surface cracks were cast. The cracks were repaired in two stages using epoxy resin: an initial partial filling, followed by complete filling. The results demonstrate the potential of the technique in detecting the surface crack repair effectiveness, especially through the diffusivity parameter.
