This framework leverages blockchain technology to enhance data security and interoperability in healthcare, suggesting a robust solution.
Blockchain technology has greatly enhanced safe and decentralized data management, making it an attractive choice for current healthcare systems. This paper introduces a customized Hyperledger Fabric-based framework for managing patient identification within a smart healthcare network by integrating various stakeholders such as Ace Hospital, its branches, affiliated departments (Ace Lab, Ace Nursing), and external entities such as Medic Insurance. Utilizing Hyperledger Fabric's modular design, it ensures data integrity, confidentiality, and efficient collaboration through privacy-preserving channels, endorsing peers, anchor peers, and orderer nodes. Provides decentralized storage of patient records, allowing approved organizations to access real-time data, as well as a dedicated node for patient participation, which enables patients to securely access and control their health information. Scalability and availability are ensured using a hierarchical structure consisting of a central orderer and branch-specific orderers. Fabric CLI tools were used to verify the framework's configuration, which included essential configuration files like "configtx.yaml" and "crypto-config.yaml" that define the channels, organizations, and rules. Configuration issues were addressed through intensive debugging and validation of Hyperledger Fabric samples. This study underscores blockchain technology's potential to tackle critical healthcare challenges, including data security, interoperability, and collaboration, delivering a scalable and efficient framework that enhances patient trust, operational efficiency, and compliance with global data protection standards.
