Expert assessment reveals significant adverse reactions from SGLT-2 inhibitors in children, indicating necessary precautions.
The purpose of the study: to conduct an expert assessment of post-registration data from real clinical practice on the safety of SGLT-2 inhibitors in children. Objectives of the study: to establish quantitative and qualitative characteristics of adverse reactions (ARs) when using SGLT2 inhibitors in children. Conclusion: The results of the analysis of real clinical practice data on the safety of SGLT-2 inhibitors in children suggest a large volume of consumption of these drugs, which can be indirectly indicated by the number of cases presented. Differences from adults in the structure of use and in the manifestations of side effects were established. Practical recommendations: It is necessary to take into account the established risks when using SGLT-2 inhibitors in children, since they can cause serious adverse reactions and require attention from pediatricians and parents, until regulatory authorities have approved the corresponding changes to the instructions for medical use of these drugs.
