HPTLC method estimates mebendazole and levamisole HCl in tablets, showing high precision and accuracy.
A precise and accurate HPTLC method has been developed for simultaneous estimation of Mebendazole and Levamisole HCl in their pharmaceutical dosage forms. The chromatographic separation was performed on aluminium plates pre-coated with silica gel 60 F254 using Toluene: Methanol: Glacial Acetic Acid (7 : 2 : 1, v/v/v) as mobile phase and densitometrically scanned at 240 nm wavelength. The Rf vales were found to be 0.20 ± 0.02 and 0.67 ± 0.02 for Mebendazole and Levamisole HCl respectively. The linearity range for the Mebendazole and Levamisole HCl were found to be 200 – 1000 ng/band and 300 - 1500 ng/band with correlation coefficients of 0.9977 and 0.9958 respectively. The method was validated for precision, accuracy, LOD and LOQ as per ICH guidelines Q2 (R1). The method was applied for simultaneous estimation of Mebendazole and Levamisole HCl in their combined tablet dosage form. The assay results were found to be 99.47 % ± 0.28 and 99.72 % ± 0.16 of percentage label claim for Mebendazole and Levamisole HCl respectively.
