Administration of the Indian forests is an important activity of the federal government, yet very few are acquainted with it. The author, with twenty years of experience in the Indian Service, has done the forestry profession a service by presenting in a single paper the historical background to our policy toward Indian lands and the problems of his office in administering their forest and forage resources.
