Ponderosa pine plays an important part in the local economy of Arizona and New Mexico. Consequently, the effect of injurious agencies on present and future timber production is of considerable concern. This is a report of a survey made to determine the importance of western red rot in second-growth stands and to evaluate the need for and the practicability of control carried on in conjunction with silvicultural measures.
