Observational analysis reveals that planting methods influence survival and growth in plantations, suggesting improved reforestation strategies.
In recent years, foresters have devoted much time to the selection of planting sites suitable to different tree species, but have paid little attention to the selection of the method of planting appropriate to different sites and soils. Casual observations indicated that many failures experienced in reforestation were due to a lack of information on the suitability of various planting methods to environmental conditions, and unfortunate choice of reforestation technique.
