The discussion presents levels of forestry assistance in farm planning, highlighting soil conservation's critical role.
The author discusses some new angles of the problems of farm forestry as disclosed by conservation surveys of the Soil Conservation Service and by its experience in incorporating forestry into farm plans. He presents three levels of farm forestry assistance to farmers, and states that the Soil Conservation Service can render a very real service to forestry at level 1 through its work in soil conservation districts. Since the other two levels are dependent on the first, the thesis is developed that the more all foresters support the work of the Soil Conservation Service at level 1, the greater will be the opportunity for foresters at levels 2 and 3.
