Case study develops a stock counting system using barcodes and microcontrollers, highlighting its effective database integration.
This case study aims to design a merchandise stock counting device that has a barcode and digit code printed on the product packaging, which will later be scanned using the GM65 barcode sensor. The displayed results will be entered into a webservice database report. The method used in this research is engineering described through problem identification, tool and system design, from software to hardware. Then, a trial was conducted on the system and data analysis was conducted to obtain research results. Based on the results, it shows that the inventory counting system runs according to the initial design to determine the remaining items sold in the available stock in a supermarket. The system testing on a conveyor was tested by scanning barcodes printed on different product packaging. In the test, two different brand products were used. The resulting barcodes were entered into a webserver media with an internet network, so they were stored in the database. In conclusion, it is able to minimize confusion that occurs during stocktaking and data can be stored neatly and is not easily lost.
