This analysis examines compaction and consolidation processes of europium and lanthanum hafnate powders, highlighting their importance in nuclear applications.
At present, interest has grown in complex oxide compounds and materials based on them, since they can be used as heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials in various industries. The use of lanthanide hafnates and titanates is especially important in nuclear power engineering, since these materials are distinguished by high physical efficiency of neutron absorption and are characterized by excellent operational properties. Powders of europium and lanthanum hafnates were made by mechanochemical synthesis. The study of their compaction was carried out and the process of consolidation of blanks from mechanically synthesized powders of europium and lanthanum hafnates was studied. The structure and properties of the powder materials after molding and consolidation were studied by XRD, TEM, and SEM. The structure and properties of the two compounds were analyzed and compared.
