Research reveals effective transformation of oxides into nanodispersed gadolinium hafnate, indicating successful compaction and sintering processes.
Powders of gadolinium hafnate Gd2HfO5 have been made from hafnium and dysprosium oxides by mechanochemical synthesis. XRD, chemical analysis and studies by X-ray phase analysis, using scanning and transmission electron microscopy showed the transformation of the initial oxides into single-phase nanodispersed gadolinium hafnate Gd2HfO5 for 30 min during mechanochemical synthesis, after which a study concerning compaction of this powder and a study of the sintering process were carried out.
