Experimental study shows heat treatment improves superelastic behavior in ti-zr-nb alloy, indicating enhanced mechanical properties.
Effects of annealing and thermocycling treatment on the microstructure, phase state, mechanical and functional properties of Ti-19.2Zr-15.7Nb (at. %) shape memory alloy produced by selective laser melting (SLM) have been studied. After SLM the alloy contains a well-developed dislocation substructure, demonstrates low ductility and does not manifest a superelastic behavior. Annealing at 550 °C allows obtaining the most perfect superelastic mechanical behavior of the alloy. Thermocycling after SLM does not affect the structure and properties of the alloy.
